Procedure for Using Property View Images in Toolkit

Important: Property View is authorized for use in conservation planning.
Printing maps with property data is OK. Do not distribute digital data.
Load Property View Data onto your Computer Workstation
- Browse to F:Geodata\government_units
- Right-click on the cnty2004 file, and click Copy
- Browse to C:Geodata, and create a new folder called government_units
- Right-click, and paste the cnty2004 file into the government_units
folder
Add Tax Data to the View
- Click the Add Data button
- Browse to the Property View Database
(C:Geodata\government_units\cnty2004\DATABASE\cnty2004.shp)
- Click Add
Identify the Tax Map Number for a Particular Location
- Open ArcMap in Toolkit, as usual
- In the Table of Contents at the left, drag the cnty2004 layer to the top
of the layers
- Click the Identify button
- Click on the cnty2004 point falling within the location of interest
- Make note of the map number
Add the Tax Map Image File for the Corresponding Tax Map
- Click the Add Data button
- Browse to the Property View IMAGE files
(C:Geodata\government_units\cnty2004\IMAGES)
- Select the .tif image that corresponds with the map number
- Click Add
Set the Tax Map Image Layer Properties
- Right-click on the tax map image layer
- Select Properties, click the Symbology tab
- Under Show, click Unique Values
- Double-click on the black color patch
- Choose a bright color (white, green, red...)
- Double-click the white color patch
- Choose No Color
- Click OK
Search for Tax Map Location using the Owner Name
- Right-click on the cnty2004 database layer
- Left-click on Open Attribute Table
- Click Options > SQL Select by Attributes
- In the Fields window, double-click on OWNNAME1
- Click the '=' button
- Under Unique Values, double-click on the owner's name (refresh the
Unique Values choice list by clicking the Get Unique Values button)
- Click the Apply button
- Zoom to the selected feature (Click on Zoom In tool, then drag a small
box around the highlighted feature). Using the Advanced GIS setting, click
the Selection menu, Zoom to Selected Feature
