NRCS Extends CIG Application Deadline to March 20Maryland Media Liaison: Annapolis, MD, February 27, 2009 --- The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Maryland announced the application period for Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) has been extended to March 20, 2009. NRCS administers CIGs and this year up to $20 million is available through the National CIG competition. NRCS is extending the application period to make sure that interested conservation partners have adequate time to submit proposals. CIG applicants may apply online by going to http:www.grants.gov/. A copy of the application must be sent to NRCS National Headquarters in Washington, DC by close of business March 20, 2009. CIG applicants must also include a cover letter showing that the application was sent to the appropriate State Conservationist for review. In Maryland, applications must be submitted to the State Conservationist, NRCS State Office, Attn: Mark Rose, Assistant State Conservationist for Programs, 339 Busch’s Frontage Road, Suite 301, Annapolis, Maryland 21409 or mark.rose@md.usda.gov. If a project is multi-State in scope, all States in the project area must be sent the application for review. The State Conservationist(s) will review the application for potential duplication of efforts, ethics concerns, and consistency with overall EQIP objectives.
