MD.440.9.7, PGM - Announcement of State NRCS Farm Bill Program Advisory Cadre

Maryland Bulletin: 440-9-7
Subject: PGM - Announcement of State NRCS Farm Bill Program Advisory Cadre
Date: March 3, 2009

Purpose. To announce members of the State NRCS Farm Bill Program Advisory Cadre

Expiration Date. September 30, 2009.

Explanation.

The passage of the 2008 Farm Bill has created new policy to implement conservation programs in FY2009. Establishing Maryland's processes and state level policy requires input from the Local Work Groups, State Technical Committee, NRCS Resources Specialists and NRCS Field Office Staff responsible for developing and implementing conservation program contracts.

A Maryland Farm Bill Advisory Cadre has been developed consisting of various field level positions. The purpose of this Cadre is:

  • To strengthen the internal delivery of programs to NRCS and partnership staff at the field level;
  • Provide state office staff with a perspective of the field office when developing program policy and guidance;
  • Develop a field level knowledge base of program implementation and state level policy development;
  • Qualify Cadre members to serve in acting program management and leadership activities and details on a state level.

The Maryland Farm Bill Program Advisory Cadre will assist state office program and resources staff to develop state level program policy and guidance. Cadre members have been assigned a program to participate in the development of state policy and guidance. Cadre members will participate in initial Program rule teleconferences, national level teleconferences and trainings (as budget allows) and up to two program staff meetings held in Annapolis.
