Maryland Bulletin: 440-8-1
Subject: PGM - Service Center Information System (SCIMS) Data Cleanup
Date: November 5, 2007
Purpose. To cleanup invalid customer information records in
SCIMS
Expiration Date. December 30, 2007.
Explanation. Analysis of SCIMS has revealed that
invalid or fictitious customer records continue to reside in SCIMS and entity
files. This includes names, words such as "NULL" and other unacceptable labels,
and tax identification numbers that are sequential or all the same number. These
numbers and identities may have been created for training or testing purposes.
FSA staff may be contacting NRCS staff at the county level to determine
validity of certain records and identify any corrective actions that may be
needed. FSA has released a memorandum to offices outlining corrective and
preventative actions needed to operate SCIMS database.
NRCS field offices will cooperate with FSA to clean up these records and
ensure that SCIMS database is accurate and reliable. Field office staff should
work with the FSA offices to eliminate the entries using the procedures
identified in the FSA memorandum. All employees having access to SCIMS are
responsible for protecting and promoting the integrity and security of data
within SCIMS.
