Subject: INF - Fall 2008 Land Judging Contest
Date: October 7, 2008

Purpose. To announce the date of the State Land Judging Contest.

Expiration Date. September 30, 2008.

Explanation.  The 2008 State (FFA) Land Judging Contest is scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2008. The contest will be held on coastal plain soils in Talbot County. The precise location and host school will be announced at a later date.  All FFA Chapters are encouraged to participate, and second teams are welcome for training purposes. Also, any 4-H Club or Envirothon teams are welcome to attend. The State Contest event consists of a "land judging school" from 9:30-11:00 am and a contest from 11:30 - 1:00 pm. The contest will be conducted by NRCS Soil Scientists according to "A Guide to Land Judging in Maryland," Coop. Ext. Bulletin 232, Rev. 1985-86.

District Conservationists are encouraged to contact local FFA Chapters. In addition, consider contacting Envirothon teams that may be interested in participating in the State Contest.
